Oklahoma Bible Academy Madisyn “Madi” Mari
Oklahoma Bible Academy sophomore Madisyn “Madi” Mari is quickly establishing herself as a dependable and disciplined presence on the varsity softball team, both on and off the field.
Mari, a 10th grader, plays second base and shortstop, where quick reactions and range are essential. She said one of the biggest challenges at her positions is chasing down balls that fall between players, requiring constant awareness and effort.
Despite the difficulty, Mari embraces the grind. “Athletics has taught me that there is always failure and you have to work to push through it and be dedicated to something you love,” she said.
Her mindset is shaped by strong influences in her life, including teammate Brenli Baker and her father, Chad Mari. Baker, she said, models consistency and excellence. “She shows me what it takes to be a great player and strive to be better,” Mari said. “She is always there for me to help me get stronger and better.” At home, her father reinforces those same values. “He pushes me to be the best person and player I can be,” she said. “He teaches me to work hard, stay dedicated and learn from all mistakes.”
Mari’s approach at the plate reflects her disciplined mentality: be selective, make the pitcher work and attack the strike zone.
Off the field, Mari values the relationships she has built within the program. “I enjoy being around an amazing group of girls and coaches who lead me closer to God in every way,” she said. She added that the team’s encouragement stands out most. “My teammates encourage everyone on and off the field, and I love the relationships we have as a team.”
She also credits teammate Maddox Mendenhall for leaving a lasting impression. “She is always encouraging and supportive to every single person and models Godly values and faith in Christ,” Mari said.
In the classroom, Mari enjoys math and science and cites Mrs. Hofen and Mr. Reece as favorite teachers who have impacted her academic journey.
When she is not playing softball, Mari stays active by practicing hitting and fielding, working out, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
No matter the situation, Mari believes in one core principle: always show good sportsmanship.
