Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Izzy Davis
Oklahoma Bible Academy sophomore Izzy Davis is building her identity as a varsity athlete through discipline, faith and a deep sense of team connection.
Davis credits much of her motivation to her mother, whose work ethic continues to shape her approach to both athletics and life.
“My mom inspires me to work hard and to push myself,” Davis said. “She is so strong and hardworking in everything she does. This makes me want to do the same.”
On the court, Davis values the relationships formed within the program as much as the competition itself. She describes her team as tightly bonded, emphasizing the emotional and spiritual support they provide one another.
“I enjoy the memories and love on and off the court,” she said. “Our team is very close. We push each other physically, mentally and spiritually.”
Davis points to teammates who bring unique energy to the group, including Kody Hackler’s vocal leadership and Natalie Ham’s ability to keep spirits high. She also highlighted Hannah Benson as a standout performer, calling her “the best setter on the OBA varsity team,” and praised Sally Davis for her relentless defensive effort.
Athletics have helped Davis develop composure under pressure, a skill she continues to refine.
“They’ve taught me how to stay calm and push through even when it’s hard,” she said.
Her growth has also been influenced by former teammate Ashlyn Young, whose leadership left a lasting impression.
“She helped me stay out of my head while playing,” Davis said.
Off the court, Davis balances her schedule with cheerleading and volunteering in the children’s ministry at Open Door Church. She also enjoys spending time with friends, often driving around town or shopping.
In the classroom, Davis said Bible is her favorite subject, and she credits Coach Roth as a favorite teacher.
As she continues her sophomore season, Davis remains focused on improvement, team unity and maintaining the mindset that has guided her so far, one rooted in perseverance and encouragement.
