Gregg Bledsoe doesn’t have an office. Or at least, not one you’d ever reliably find him in. On any given day at Oklahoma Bible Academy, he might be clearing a frozen sidewalk before sunrise, fixing a stubborn light in the gym, or standing in the lunchroom cracking jokes that echo louder than the clatter of trays.
He started in 2014 as a day janitor. Back then, few could have guessed he would grow into the quiet backbone of the campus, overseeing 90,000 square feet of buildings, 140 acres of land, and a fleet of vehicles. But Gregg never cared much for titles. What mattered to him was simple: take care of the place, and take care of the people in it.
And he does both relentlessly.
Students know him as the biggest jokester at OBA. On stressful days, when tests pile up and nerves run thin, Gregg shows up with a grin and a perfectly timed one-liner. He has a gift for making kids laugh, and to him, those moments matter more than any job description.
“If they’re smiling, the day’s already better.”
Birthdays are his specialty. During lunch, he makes sure every student is celebrated, no one overlooked, no one forgotten. It’s a small act, but in a school full of busy days, it leaves a lasting mark.
Each year, students prove just how much he means to them. At the annual teacher auction, they pool their money in a spirited battle for the most coveted prize: a trip to Ted’s Cafe Escondido with Mr. Bledsoe. The winners always return with stories, laughter, and bragging rights that fuel the frenzy for the next year.
At home, Gregg shares life with his wife Diana and their sons, Owen and Evan, both grown now. Together, they’ve spent years vacationing in the mountains of New Mexico, Red River, and Taos, offering a slower pace, a quiet contrast to Gregg’s ever-moving days.
But whether in the mountains or on campus, Gregg remains the same: steady, hardworking, and always ready with a joke.
Because to him, the work is never just about buildings or meals. It’s about people, and making sure they feel seen.
