The Hofen family is a remarkable example of dedication, faith, and teamwork at Oklahoma Bible Academy. Scott and Sherry Hofen have been married for 22 years and have three sons: Creigh (19), a sophomore at UCO; Wyatt (17), a senior at OBA; and Silas (15), a sophomore at OBA. Their journey began in public education but transitioned to OBA six years ago, where both parents teach, coach, and contribute to a vibrant school community.
Scott and Sherry balance their roles as educators and coaches with their commitments as parents. Scott shared, “Teaching is the primary reason students are in our classrooms. Coaching is the added bonus.” Their teaching emphasizes fundamentals and teamwork while helping athletes focus on playing for others and honoring Jesus.

Balancing teaching, coaching, and family life can be a challenge. Sherry noted, “Prioritizing which one trumps the other is most important, and that is the classroom.” Despite the demands, the family treasures seeing each other during the day, especially in the hallways. “It’s rewarding knowing that our mission as believers in Christ is being replicated in all classrooms,” she said.
For Wyatt, having parents as educators has been both supportive and motivating. “My parents challenge me with high expectations both academically and athletically,” he explained, adding that these challenges ultimately encourage him to strive for the glory of God. Despite recent injuries impacting his athletic career, Wyatt’s resilience and faith shine through.

Faith anchors the Hofens’ approach to teaching, parenting, and athletics. “God comes first,” they affirmed. Whether facing triumphs or setbacks, their unity as a family grows stronger. “Through success and injury, we’ve always stood by each other and tried to encourage and lift each other up.”

The OBA community plays an integral role in their lives. “OBA is a part of our community. We lean on each other when we need extra support,” the Hofens shared. This support, combined with their values and close family dynamic, has shaped their journey.
For the Hofens, the word that best describes their family is “close.” It encapsulates their bond as a family dedicated to faith, education, and fostering growth in their students and each other. Oklahoma Bible Academy is proud to have the Hofens as a part of their school family.
