Q&A with OBA Headmaster Andrew Wilkins – Presented by No Man’s Land Beef Jerky

Oklahoma Bible Academy (OBA) is a middle school and secondary school whose
purpose is to integrate God’s word into every aspect of life and learning. OBA equips
students for God’s purpose for their life. OBA is accredited by Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI), ensuring standards comparable to public schools.
Oklahoma Bible Academy has a rich 115-year history in northwest Oklahoma. Founded
in 1911 as Meno Preparatory School, OBA began in Meno, Oklahoma offering Christian
education. By the late 1970s, enrollment grew prompting the Board to seek expansion
in Enid. The school relocated to Enid with classes starting in the fall of 1983 in a new
facility. The Enid campus saw significant expansion including a 1995 auditorium, a 2001
football field, a 2003 Advanced Learning Center and a 2006 track.

I had the opportunity to speak with OBA Headmaster Dr. Andrew Wilkins and ask him
some questions about OBA.

What type of students does OBA look for?
WILKINS: OBA students are from committed Christian families, involved in their
churches and willing to diligently work hard at learning. OBA has a highly relational
learning environment. The average classroom has 15 students. The teacher-student
ratio is 1/14.

What are the key elements of your mission statement?
WILKINS: The key elements of our educational mission is that students know, love and
trust Christ with all their life for all their life. We want students to grasp with their mind
and their intuition that Jesus Christ is the ultimate value of what is good, true and
beautiful. For academics, our standard is to love God with all our mind. Therefore, we
work hard at learning. The second key is the reality that God has a plan for these
students, and our mission is to prepare them for the path God has for them.

What is student life like and how can parents meaningfully participate in student life?
WILKINS: Student life works best when students participate in a variety of activities
OBA offers for leadership, athletics and in the arts. Positive peer pressure is a strength
of our student life environment. Almost everyone is doing their homework. Almost
everyone appreciates and respects their teachers. Everyone is learning to love their
neighbors. Most importantly, the students believe their teachers believe in them.
OBA provides a distinctively Christian learning environment. Not only in what they learn
but also who they are learning from and with. OBA, where the heart of education is
education of the heart.
