Leadership through daily improvement has become a defining focus for Kinedi Fettke as she takes the field for Oklahoma Bible Academy. “To be a positive team leader, and to lead by getting better every day and also have better percentages all around than i did my Freshman year,” Fettke said when describing her personal goals, setting a clear standard for herself and her teammates.
That mindset fits naturally within the culture surrounding the Lady Trojans. “Our team has great coach’s and is full of girls who all put Christ first which makes our team solid,” Fettke explained when talking about team morale. As a young roster continues to grow together, she’s noticed a key change that goes beyond wins and losses. “The biggest improvement i have seen in the team is the relationship we have built together. We are a very young team and we all step up and play all together,” she said.
Big goals are paired with an even bigger work ethic. “One of our biggest team goals is to make it to the state tournament,” Fettke said. “I am working by lifting daily, training, hitting, and fielding all to prepare for the season.” That preparation feeds into what she believes is the team’s greatest weapon. “I think our team’s biggest strength right now is our offense.”
Fettke anchors that attack from the infield. “I play second base,” she said, noting how she approaches each defensive rep. “I look for all of the gaps left open in the field.” Physical preparation is constant and intentional. “I work all week long talking lots of reps both hitting and fielding,” she said of getting ready for demanding games.
When it’s time to compete, her focus stays rooted in faith and effort. “My mindset on the field is to give it my all and play for the glory of God.” That perspective shapes the legacy she hopes to leave behind at OBA. “I want to be someone that the younger girls can look up to and see not only my love for Christ, my teammates, and softball but also the person i am outside of softball as well.”
There’s more to this team than what fans see on game day. “Our ability to come together, lean on Christ and our relationship with each other in times of adversity,” Fettke said. While she doesn’t rely on a hype song before games, one moment already stands out. “My favorite memory in an OBA uniform is turning a triple play with shortstop, Conley Cayot, to end the game with a win against pioneer last year.”
Kinedi Fettke is a sophomore, standing 5’4”, and posted a .489 batting average, 1.328 OPS, and .929 fielding percentage. She competes in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball and recently began powerlifting. After high school, she plans to “play college softball and become a pediatric nurse.”
