For Oklahoma Bible Academy senior Liam Berry, success starts long before Friday nights. “A personal goal of mine is to stay healthy and be all-district again,” he said. His determination and focus have helped him develop into one of OBA’s most reliable leaders — both in the locker room and on the field.

Berry says this year’s team chemistry has been a major difference-maker. “We are a lot closer this year,” he said. That closeness has fueled stronger communication and effort across the board, especially on the defensive side. “Our biggest improvement is our defense,” Berry added. “We’ve put in a lot of work and it’s showing each week.”

With the playoffs in mind, the Trojans are zeroed in on a clear target. “We want to win a district championship,” he said. “We are working hard in practice and the weight room to achieve it.” That commitment has also translated to offensive production. “Our biggest strength is our passing game,” Berry said. “Our quarterback has come a long way and we have good receivers.”

On the field, Berry’s versatility stands out. “I play running back and linebacker,” he said. His preparation and awareness are key to his success. “I look at the other backers to see where they are lined up so I know where the hole is going to be.” That level of focus extends beyond just the X’s and O’s. “I make sure I eat right the two days before and I hydrate like crazy,” he added.

When it comes to mindset, Berry keeps things simple but powerful. “No matter who is in front of me, I can figure out a way to benefit my team,” he said. His approach embodies the toughness and heart OBA football is known for.

Berry hopes people remember more than just his play. He also never forgets to enjoy the moment — especially when the music’s on. “I listen to whatever we have in the locker room, so either rap or rock.”

Looking back, one moment stands above the rest. “My sophomore year, getting a big pick in a home playoff game,” he said. It’s a memory that still fuels his drive — and one he hopes to top this season.
