Brianna Colby, a senior at Oklahoma Bible Academy, is a dynamic multi-sport athlete excelling in volleyball, basketball and track. Her passion for sports, coupled with her strong faith, defines her journey and accomplishments on and off the court. “For volleyball, my main position is outside hitter and defensive specialist. For basketball, I play power forward.”
Motivation for Brianna stems from multiple sources. “A lot of things motivate me in my life, but the biggest ones are my brothers, my teammates and my love for the Lord. My family has always been very competitive when it comes to literally anything, so my big brothers have always been a source of motivation for me in sports.” Her devotion to her faith adds a deeper layer to her drive: “My love for the Lord has helped remind me to be motivated, not so I can achieve personal gain, but rather be motivated. I love the Lord and want to thank Him for everything He’s given me by going out there and giving my all every single game.”
Brianna’s parents play a crucial role in shaping her work ethic and confidence. “My biggest role models are my mom and dad. My parents have always been hard on me when it comes to academics and sports and I can’t thank them enough. I wouldn’t have the work ethic and confidence I have today if it wasn’t for them.”
Another significant influence is her teacher, Mr. Reese. “The teacher that has had the biggest impact on my life was my sophomore world history teacher and my now senior Bible teacher, Mr. Reese. He always pointed me to work for God’s glory and not my own, and that’s why I asked him to baptize me my junior year so that I could finally commit myself to God and His glory only.”
Reflecting on her high school career, Brianna highlights a memorable moment in basketball. “For basketball, it was the moment the buzzer sounded on our semifinal game against Caddo this year. It was the moment I realized all our hard work and determination throughout the season had finally paid off.”
